The Gossip Girl reboot dropped yesterday 8th July on HBO Max and everyone on the internet already has a lot to say about it. The reboot proposed a fresh and progressive take on the popular original series but after one episode die hard fans are saying it is not the same..
The tweets are nothing short of hilarious.
This new #GossipGirl series is giving me Riverdale vibes.. it has potential but those cringey moments got me uneasy. Luckily enough for them, the nostalgia factor has me hooked (for now).

I know the Gossip Girl teachers are idiotic because they thought a tweet with no hashtags and no @’s from an account with 0 followers would make waves

New GossipGirl is so fun and smart and sad (in the right way!) I love scary teens played by twenty-somethings and misguided teachers played by…twenty-somethings. I can’t wait to watch more!

The reboot aims to reestablish the concept in our age of technology. The show puts effort towards being social conscious, progressive and more relatable for high schools in todays day and age. The cast is diverse in ethnicity as well as sexual and gender identities. Regardless the cringe worthy moments and age- inappropriate casting have viewers worried for what is to come of the series. Many OG fans are watching simply for the nostalgia that the show provides- we will just have to see how long that keeps them holding on for.
If you want to judge the reboot before yourself check it out on HBO Max or watch the trailer below for a little taste.
