The Funny Women Awards Grand Finale will take place the at 7:30 on 23rd of September at the Bloomsbury theatre in London and tickets go on sale Friday 13th of August.
The Funny Women Stage Award to find the best breakthrough comedy talent, sponsored by Sky Studios, have announced their semi finalists after a record number of entrants for the 2021 Awards! This was after 13 fantastic Global Virtual Heats and much, appropriately, heated debate!
The judges had a hard time getting it down to 20 so decided it was only fair to give 48 ladies the chance to be seen by the top tier judging panel! Four semi-finals will now take place on 23rd, 25th, 27th, 29th August. You can watch viafunnywomen.com or interact and chat along on our Twitch channel
The final selection features women are from all corners of the world – Australia, U.S.A, Canada, Italy, Netherlands, Indonesia, Denmark, Germany and all over the UK! Please check the Funny Women website here for full list of the top women!
Tickets are now on sale for the final that takes place at London’s Bloomsbury Theatre on 23rd September with hostess of the mostess now a star of stage and screen the 2014 Funny Women Stage award winner Jayde Adams!
The Funny Women Next Up Comedy Shorts Award team also worked day and night watching 100’s of videos over the last few months to bring the selection down to 23. The longlist represents a variety of eclectic comedy genres. Faced with the ongoing challenge of creating, producing, and directing video shorts for the majority of the last two years, it was truly heartening to see how many of our entrants had overcome those difficulties and produced such brilliantly original content.
This year they also received a mammoth number of scripts for the Comedy Writing Award sponsored by Sky Studios. With the help of our fantastic panel of readers from the comedy industry they read and scored over 220 scripts and narrowed them down to a longlist of 21. The standard was high as ever this year, but the panel has selected an incredible range of scripts that cover all kinds of comedy and we are excited to move forward to the next stage.
Registration for the 2021 Funny Women heat Content Creator Award is open until 14th September.
