London based singer-songwriter, Louise Havell, is an accomplished performer and multi-instrumentalist. Taking inspiration from legends such as Tori Amos, Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell, as well as eighties artists including Giorgio Moroder and Wham, Louise adds her own originality from her life experiences. Her music is largely fuelled by her travels, living in tune with nature and learning from the cultures she has encountered. This month, her debut EP is released, “Shooting With Lives”.
During her childhood, Louise learned a variety of different instruments such as guitar, saxophone and drums. But, was also influenced by various types of music including Salsa and Samba, Pop and electric.
Travel, however, plays a large role in Louise’s music. Her desire to be a global traveller encouraged a true connection with nature, from sleeping under the stars in California, swimming with dolphins or immersing herself into mountain hiking (in both the Himalayas and the Lake District). It is not a surprise that these experiences, then, are channelled into her music.
Returning to her narrowboat in London, and experiencing a new adventure in the birth of her child, Louise began writing her EP “Shooting With Lives”. Her music is infused with eighties pop and delicately laced with the sounds of nature – geese, boat engines and river life.
The well-travelled, talented and versatile Louise Havell not only experiments with music production and sounds, but sensitively explores our innate human fears, conflicts and frailties throughout her “Shooting With Lives” EP.
