There is such thing as a Gruffalo, and you and your little ones can see him live this Fringe.

Get lost in the magical world of Julia Donaldson’s mind with the legendary author herself and her amazing team who bring all your favourite books to life. It’s a group that is made up from the core of Donaldson’s family itself which results in a team that deeply care about bringing joy to yours. The sets are mesmerising, seamlessly transitioning from one fairytale to another. And the protagonists from these classics such as ‘Go-Away Bird’ and ‘Cave Baby’ are elevated from the page before your very eyes with some puppetry mastery.

This is wholehearted family fun, as the kids are in hysterics watching the daftness unfold before them (and it’s pretty great for the adults too). There is nothing more endearing than hearing a room full of gleeful giggles and little gasps of awe when the larger-than-life Gruffalo takes the stage. It is the undeniable highlight, but every other whimsical story is still the source of uncontained youthful giddiness. The audience loves getting behind the zany characters as good triumphs over bad. And you are encouraged to get involved as you sing along and help save the day in classic panto style.

Julia Donaldson’s writing prowess is no secret but seeing these wonderfully constructed stories about love and friendship in a whole new way is a real treat. Her dialogue is poetic, her words rhyme and flow and she doesn’t dumb it down for the kids. There must also be credit given to the group who sign for themselves and each other ensuring that everyone can enjoy their brilliant work.

The Fringe is all about inclusivity, and this is the perfect show to get the young ones involved. Go and see the live action happily ever afters for yourself and give your kids an experience they won’t forget.
