After beginning his music career with other independent artists such as No Tourists, Canadian-born rapper Lan’do brings us his new solo EP ‘Man Like Me’.
Born in Toronto but raised in Jamaica, Lan’do draws influences from both cultures to produce his own style of hip hop. Lan’do has heavy influence from his family, growing up with his grandmother singing in choir, to listening to his mother’s R&B collection. Listening to artists such as Capleton, Bounty Killa and Elephant Man, along with his dual identity, Lan’do’s music offers an interesting blend of unique styles.
The EP, titled ‘Man Like me’, includes four songs that were inspired by artists he admires, including Ghetts, D Double E, Mez, Knucks, Ty Dolla $ign and Capleton, to name a few.
‘Man Like Me’ is a highly personal array of tracks, with Lan’do using this release as a diary where he could vent and unpack the memories of his life as a teen in Rexdale, Toronto and the impact this had on him.
