“Arch sass and polished panache” NEW YORK TIMES
“Bitingly funny” CHORTLE
“His openness and wit…ultimately his catharsis and the audience’s laughter draw everyone together in tragedy and comedy’s borderland” THE NEW YORKER
For the first time ever, the US comedian Sam Morrison is set to bring his critically acclaimed stand-up show ‘Sugar Daddy’ to London’s Soho Theatre. The show dates begin May 17 and run until May 20.
‘Sugar Daddy’ comes to London, following on from his last critically acclaimed UK month-long run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2022.
Sam is currently performing off-Broadway at the Soho Playhouse with the show (hailed as “the best new show in New York right now” by the Daily Beast). This show has now been extended to April 1. He also recently performed an outstanding set, his debut, on ‘Late Night With Seth Meyers’.
‘Sugar Daddy’ is a celebration of his partner, who sadly lost his life due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Sam makes his own tragedy funny, despite his pain, and gives hope and humour to those in the same situation that you can find the light even in darkness.
Sam began to write about his grief as a coping mechanism in 2021. He utilises this platform to share Jonathan with others and to make fun of a society that had no idea how to deal with him as a young widow. A few stories lead the show and help Sam find meaning and connect to Jonathan.
