In Jaz Mattu’s debut fringe show, the comedian and absurdist takes the audience on his journey to find himself – ignoring the negative opinions of others through an interactive, multimedia comedy show.
This show is great fun and very different from the other comedy shows I’ve seen this Fringe. From audience games and karaoke to making fun at podcasters and questionable dating profiles the show moves quickly and keeps audience engaged with constant twists and turns.
This show doesn’t take itself too seriously, and neither does Mattu which is what makes it so funny. There are no underlying themes that were too heavy, and it was nice to be able to just sit back and have a good laugh!
Mattu is a talented performer, with a great sense of comedic timing and a surprisingly lovely singing voice (which we sadly only get to hear a few times). His clever uses of props and onscreen visuals help to boost his stories and jokes and make the show exciting to watch visually.
Throughout the show we learn that Mattu just wants to make people happy. With a crazy show of chaos and laughs Mattu does just that. Taking this opportunity to spread his joyful energy and excitement for life and his career. His fresh take on comedy is something I hope more performers take inspiration from.
Jaz Mattu has created something truly unique with this show and although this may be his first fringe, it certainly won’t be his last.
