Mary O’Connell has a spending problem? But don’t we all?

This stand up comedy show asks the question is spending money on things you enjoy okay? and does capitalism even exist? It doesn’t to Mary anyway or at least it doesn’t matter if it does!

Through stories of a slightly different comedy competition Mary recently took part in we learn of the difficulties of being a woman in comedy but also how hard it is to be hotter than most other comedians! Self-deprecating jokes simply don’t land the same when your are attractive!

Mary’s takes on girl boss feminism and fast fashion may not be the norm but that’s what makes her who she is. Sometimes it’s good to complain, and finding joy in everything is seemingly a waste of time in Mary’s book.

There is something so lovely about O Connell’s energy that makes her such a likeable comedian, whether it is the way she interacts with the crowd or the fact that she also has an admin job – like the vast majority of the audience – that makes her seem so much more relatable.

The intimate venue really lends itself to O Connell’s style of comedy allowing her to create a relationship with her audience. The show has jokes and silly props but also has a lovely meaningful ending which also leaves the audience with a slightly different perspective on money and how they view it.
