Tell us about your show. Why should we go and see it?
My show this year is called Hear Me Out and it’s all how since being diagnosed as dyslexic in December 2022, I have realised that communication using words is not my strongest feature and that I have not been the most honest person. It’s a more personal show than last year, although still fun and energetic. But there’s also a surprise in the show which I hope people will see as fun.
What are your hopes and dreams for the Fringe?.
My hopes for the Fringe this year is to do a show that I people can relate to and really enjoy. I don’t feel as must pressure as I had last year so this year my aim is just to have fun.
What makes you laugh?
I love watching clowning and improv shows because things that happen randomly are sometimes the funniest. I also love how silly people can get.
What three words best describe your performance style – and why.
Sassy, energetic and real – I like to think my comedy is pretty relatable but also honest
How will your audience think/feel differently after an hour in your company?
I would hopefully like the audience to see a different side to me and also see how I have grown as a comedian since I was last at the Fringe. They will learn a lot more about me in this show especially as I am trying to be honest. I hope people leave the show feeling uplifted and perhaps learnt something about themselves.
What kind of shows – apart from your own – are you looking forward to seeing at the Edinburgh Fringe?
I am looking forward to seeing debuts from Mary O Connell, Dan Tiernan and Daniel Fox but also looking forward to seeing Josh Jones, Alison Splittle and Ceyla AB. We’ve all worked hard to get to this Fringe and really pushed ourselves.
The cost of living is a big issue this year – will it make this Fringe more challenging?
Of course – a lot of people are not going up this year because how much it costs to go. A lot of people don’t understand how much money it costs to go up to the Edinburgh Fringe and that is a risk on people’s livelihoods. That’s a whole month of work with a hope that it will pay of financially.
What do you predict will emerge as the big themes of this year.
I think mental health and self care will be the big thing. I think a lot of people realised that we have to look after ourselves especially after the last few years we have all had.
Who is your showbiz idol and why.
Currently it’s Ed Gamble – he’s living a personal dream of mine which is being a judge on Great British Menu. I love food. Also he got to wrestle in Max’s and Ivan’s The Wrestling and I am obsessed with wrestling. He also just seems to be having a great time performing.
What is your idea of a perfect Fringe moment?
My idea of a perfect fringe moment will be to have pyro and confetti at the end of my last show just to emphasis the overwhelming feeling of “I’m done” but also “let’s go out with a bang”! I think also if I had sold out shows that would make me really happy.
