Fresh from captivating audiences at SXSW, Canadian alternative pop band Hotel Mira is set to make a splash in the UK music scene with their latest single release, “Waste Away.” The track, released on April 26th via Light Organ Records, promises to be a poignant addition to the band’s repertoire, tackling the sensitive subject of domestic abuse.

Fronted by the charismatic and talented Charlie Kerr, Hotel Mira comprises a quartet of LA-based musicians, including guitarist Clark Grieve, bassist Mike Noble, and drummer Cole George. Together, they bring a dynamic energy to their music that has garnered them widespread acclaim.

“Waste Away” delves into the complexities of domestic abuse, shedding light on the tendency to blame oneself, the confusion surrounding abusive behavior, and the courage required to leave a harmful relationship. Kerr, who penned the song, describes it as a “love letter to the courage and resilience of survivors,” drawing from personal experiences and those of close friends.

Kerr’s background as an actor and playwright infuses Hotel Mira’s music with a unique storytelling quality. Drawing parallels between acting, music, and writing, he weaves narratives that resonate deeply with audiences. Live performances are described as a mesmerizing blend of Iggy Pop’s raw energy, go-go dance vibes, and experimental theatre elements, creating an immersive experience for concert-goers.

The band’s versatility is evident in their ability to support a diverse range of acts, including Billy Talent, Fizzy Blood, The Beaches, and Frank Iero of My Chemical Romance fame. Their headlining tours have further solidified their place in the indie music scene, showcasing their talent and passion to eager audiences.

With “Waste Away,” Hotel Mira continues to push boundaries, exploring a wide range of sounds that span from neon-trashy garage rock to festival-sized pop hooks and glam-bop balladry. Their evolution as musicians promises an exciting journey ahead as they make their mark on the UK market and beyond.

Catch the band live in London at Moth Club on 13th May and The Victoria in Dalton on 19th May
