A delightfully intimate afternoon with Vincent Van Gogh himself, kind of. Leave your judgments at the door, fully immerse yourself and open your mind to the art within you.

Van Gogh (Michael DeForest) leads the audience in painting portraits of the person in front of you, or just whatever your heart desires. As someone who struggles drawing a love heart, my own heart drops at the sound of participating. However, DeForest has the ability to make those around the snug table feel immediately at ease and comfortable enough to not care about the quality of work, as long as you’re expressing yourself.

DeForest kindly offers his well stocked art supplies to the audience, so you have the ability to use mediums from water colour to colouring pencils to create your masterpieces. Almost as if it were a form of therapy DeForest, while acting as Van Gogh, tells the audience his life story whilst we all focus on our paintings.

This show is a beautiful form of relaxation to break up from the busyness of the Fringe. Time flies by as you let creative inspiration take over, and I may have become a new painter for life.

Here is the painting Fringe performer Walter de Forest made of Entertainment Now reviewer Melissa Findlay during the show.

Isn’t it lovely!

Van Gogh Find Yourself #VGFY, PBH’s Free Fringe – Brewdog Doghouse Hotel, 12:15, until August 25.
