Anpo Wie is the first EP from Naïfic, following the singles Terre Promise and Chulyen. The title is inspired by the name for Morning star in the Lakota language. The artist tells us the story so far –
Your debut EP, Anpo Wie, explores themes of pain, resilience, and hope. What inspired you to create this deeply emotional and poetic journey?
This EP is a reflection of my story, my roots, and the trials that have shaped me. Losing a friend at such a young age left a deep mark on me. It was a pain I didn’t know how to express, an emptiness that seemed impossible to fill. Music became my refuge, my language—the only way to turn that grief into something tangible.
But Anpo Wie is not just a dive into pain; it’s also a search for light. In my culture, the night is never completely dark – it is full of whispers, memories, and signs that guide us. There is always renewal, a breath that carries us toward tomorrow. This EP is a journey between shadow and clarity, a dialogue between loss and rebuilding, between suffering and the hope we carry within ourselves. It is a tribute to those we have lost, but also to those who remain and keep moving forward.
The title Anpo Wie suggests a connection to light and new beginnings. Can you tell us more about its significance and how it reflects the message of the EP?
The title Anpo Wie is inspired by my culture and means “morning star/dawn’s glow” in the Lakota language. It symbolizes renewal, a moment of transition between darkness and light, both literally and metaphorically.
This EP speaks of emancipation, transformation, and resilience – themes that are deeply meaningful to me and resonate throughout each track. Through modern electro-pop sounds combined with elements from my roots, Anpo Wie tells a personal journey – one of breaking free from past constraints to move toward a brighter future. It is a call to follow one’s own light, to reinvent oneself, and to embrace one’s true identity.
Your single “Fauve de toi” deals with the heavy subject of domestic violence, and the music video presents it in a strikingly modern way. What was your creative vision behind this storytelling approach?
With “Fauve de toi”, I wanted to tell this story in a way that feels deeply rooted in our time—using the format of social media stories. This choice brings a strong visual modernity and creates an immediate sense of closeness with the viewer, as if they were witnessing the situation in real time.
This approach also reflects how these forms of violence can be perceived today – through fragments of life shared online, where reality is often filtered, softened, or even invisible. The alternation between raw, spontaneous moments and more stylized shots symbolizes this disconnect between what is shown and what is truly happening behind the scenes. The goal was to create a striking contrast between the apparent normalcy of everyday life and the silent distress hidden behind the screen.
Your music blends innocence with dreamlike wonder. How do you balance vulnerability and hope in your songwriting?
In my writing, I always try to find that balance between emotional fragility and a light that hints at hope. Vulnerability is essential – it allows for authenticity, for touching something deeply human. I love exploring moments of doubt, pain, or uncertainty, but without ever completely sinking into darkness. There is always an opening, a way to transform these hardships into something beautiful and luminous.
Musically, this translates into contrasts: ethereal, delicate melodies alongside more percussive sounds, electronic textures that add a touch of mystery or dreaminess. In my lyrics, I often use poetic, sometimes childlike imagery to talk about deeper subjects. Wonder and imagination are ways to transcend pain and turn it into something sublime.
Ultimately, I want my songs to be spaces where people can recognize themselves in their vulnerability, but also emerge stronger, lifted by a quiet, almost magical hope.
Visual storytelling seems to be a crucial part of your artistry. How do you approach the connection between your music and its visual representation?
For me, music and imagery are inseparable. Every song is a story, a world of its own, and the visual dimension allows me to amplify the emotion and depth of the message. I always approach visual creation as a natural extension of my music—it’s not just about illustrating a sound, but about giving it a second layer of meaning, expressing what words sometimes cannot.
I love working with minimalistic, poetic aesthetics, often infused with dreamlike elements, but always with a modern touch. In the end, whether in my visuals, music videos, or stage choices, my approach is rooted in immersive storytelling – inviting the audience into a world where music and imagery complement and enhance each other.
Additionally, I collaborate with talented artists like @lamamastudio, who enrich the project and play a vital role in its development.
The themes in Anpo Wie feel very universal, yet deeply personal. Is there a particular moment or experience that shaped this project the most?
Anpo Wie was born from a personal journey marked by moments of rupture, doubt, but also renewal. This project took shape through experiences where I had to learn to let go, to rebuild myself, and to find my own voice.
One of the key turning points was a phase where I felt trapped in patterns that no longer suited me, both in my personal life and in the way I created. There was a need to free myself from certain expectations, to drop the filters, and to compose something more instinctive and sincere. Each song on the EP is a response to these periods of transformation. Some speak of the fear of change, while others evoke the liberation that follows – that moment when we finally take back control.
Anpo Wie symbolizes precisely that transition, the shift from shadow to light, the instant when one decides to move forward despite the uncertainty. It is a project shaped by painful experiences, yet it always carries a sense of momentum and rebirth. I hope it resonates with those going through their own transformations.
As you unveil this debut EP to the world, what do you hope listeners take away from it?
I hope Anpo Wie leaves an emotional imprint, resonating differently with each person depending on their own experiences. It’s not a project that imposes a single message, but rather an invitation to feel, to interpret, to let oneself be carried away.
I hope listeners will find echoes of their own transitions, those moments of wavering between fragility and strength, fear and hope. That they feel this idea that, even in uncertainty, there is always a light to follow, a way to reinvent oneself.
And most of all, I hope this EP makes them want to fully surrender to the music – to immerse themselves in it like one gets lost in a dream or a story they don’t want to leave.
