‘Hold Me Up’ is the new single from Irish pop prince Shobsy – following the release of his first UK single ‘Champagne’
Released via his own label Shobsy Records the song combines synth pop and R&B stylings with highly personal lyrics.
Shobsy says: ““Hold Me Up’ is a really personal song. It’s a conversation with my vision of God, a plea for help in hard times. Not in the sense of asking pain to end, but rather to have the strength to weather it, and to stay on what I feel is the right path. I think in our own way, we all find ourselves down and out on our knees at some point. I wrote this song to pick myself back up, and I hope it can do that for others too.”
The artist recently signed a worldwide music publishing deal with Pangea and heads out to Los Angeles next month where he will be special guest performer at the International Music Industry Awards. Prior to that he will be performing two shows at Austin’s SXSW festival before heading home to play his biggest headline gig to date at Whelan’s, Dublin on Saturday March 22.
His performance on Ireland’s Biggest TV show ‘The Late Late Show’, led to additional attention for this Dublin based artist. Shobsy performed a special acoustic re-working of the Bronski Beat classic ‘Smalltown Boy”. The track resonated with fans and subsequently went viral clocking up over 100k views in 12 hours.
Shobsy has a mini dachshund called Loki, who he takes everywhere. He’s an obsessive Star Wars fan, and of David Lynch and he also loves rugby. His favourite artists include U2, David Bowie and Bruce Springsteen.
