US comedian Caitlin Cook is returning to the UK with her musical comedy show The Writing on the Stall. Following successful performances, including an Off-Broadway run, national tours, and Edinburgh Fringe and London shows last year, Cook is bringing her show back to British audiences.
Cook begins her UK dates with two performances at Brighton’s Komedia on May 31 and June 1, before heading to London’s Soho Theatre for a four-night run from June 4-7. Described as “inventive and hilarious” by David Cross and “funny and fabulous” by Cat Cohen, The Writing on the Stall is a musical comedy show inspired by bathroom graffiti.
Set in a public toilet, the show incorporates messages found on bathroom walls into original songs, blending humour with moments of reflection. The performance includes props such as slingshotted underwear, milk pistols, and a cowboy figure with spurs. Reflecting on her previous UK performances, Cook said: “After building bits and pieces of this show for years at past fringes and in front of UK audiences, it was rewarding to return to a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe and seven sold-out shows in London. I’m looking forward to bringing it back to the Soho Theatre and expanding the UK tour.”
