Katie Dauson’s latest album, Pure Katie, is a vibrant rock and roll journey that blends rockabilly, surf rock, and more. Initially conceived as a concept album, it evolved into a dynamic collection of tracks full of energy, infectious melodies, and raw storytelling. “This album was a little bit of everything,” says Dauson. “The songs took on a life of their own, and now we have a rock and roll album with a few surprises.”

With songs like “Won’t You,” a high-energy rockabilly anthem, and “Go Penny Go,” a roller derby-inspired track, Pure Katie showcases Dauson’s ability to blend various genres while celebrating the timeless power of music. The album’s influences range from The Beatles and Bob Dylan to Fats Domino, capturing both danceable beats and heartfelt ballads.

Dauson’s path to music was unconventional, with a background in physics, astronomy, and creative advertising before discovering her passion for songwriting. Her breakthrough came after performing her song “Virtual Sky” at an open mic, launching her career.

Pure Katie is available now on CD, vinyl, and cassette via Dauson’s website and at Baxter’s Vinyl in Toronto, with Amazon availability coming soon. Fans can expect the unexpected as Katie Dauson continues to make waves in the music world with her authentic, genre-defying sound.
