Edfringe Review: Skank Sinatra
dolly parton

Esteemed Australian drag queen Jens Radda performs a jazz inspired cabaret show, that provides a satisfying blend of musical prowess and comedy.

Radda is a vision in her pink bow spangled pantsuit and Marilyn wig as she makes her way onto the stage. She performs her own slightly twisted versions of classic jazz songs, some of comedy and others in her Dutch mother tongue. Her voice is heavenly on stage, with Radda showcasing her repertoire of notes.

To break up the cabaret singing, Radda tells anecdotes of her life story. From living in South Africa, to going clubbing in Berlin, it seems Radda has lived a million lives.

Sadly, the set can come off as slightly rigid and clunky in parts, but Radda’s professionalism allows her to hold the audience’s attention through her variety of acts.

It’s clear Radda is a seasoned pro on stage and her instrumental abilities as well as her singing make for a tantalising show. With Radda’s show you come for the drag, but stay for the jazz.
