Hot Chips bestows a unique show every night, live on stage. Trygve Wakenshaw and Barnie Duncan bring a new show every night with energetic, imaginative routines that leaves the audience laughing.
Hot Chips is an improv style performance, with the duo choosing a subject matter for the night and running with it. Each scene is as impressively funny as the last.
Wakenshaw and Duncan are both known for their physical comedy style. I enjoy seeing how they could create realistic sets with no more than themselves or a microphone. It is technical and imaginative, making for a different kind of show.
The Kiwi comedians make fun of themselves and each other, setting the other up during the scenes. The New Zealand humour translates well to the Scottish soil, whilst the duo has a strong camaraderie that allows the show to fly by.
It is a pleasure to step inside the minds of Wakenshaw and Duncan, who create several different skits that I have no doubt will be funny in a different way every night. The pair have a similar senses of humour, but each brings their own fun to the table. It is delightful to watch how they will attempt to one up each other by being more crazy than the other.
Wakenshaw and Duncan have mastered the art of taking a joke as far as you can but still making the audience laugh. You might not think improv is your thing but this show is one I would see again.
Hot Chips takes silliness and creativity and energy to the next level.
