Jenny Tian and Harry Jun have come from Australia to bring you some comedy – joining them on stage: a token white man. Every show, these two self-proclaimed Wongs bring out a white to join them. If you are a stand-up fan, this show is a treat. Not only are you getting some outstanding jokes and gags, but you are getting them thrice!
Harry is the first to stride onto the stage, and I hope he doesn’t mind me saying the first of the Wongs. Harry is cool chatting with the audience like he would a mate as he mentions some of the hardships of standup, like performing for two people who couldn’t have sat further apart in a venue. But how times have changed as the chamber rooms has scarcely a seat spare.
Jenny, who introduces the show, runs through a shower of applause up onto the stage to take the torch (microphone) from Harry. Jenny has some of the edgiest and, in hand, the funniest jokes; that being said, overall edge isn’t a massive factor, contrary to what you may think due to its title. I actually found it refreshing that all three comedians leaned away from the stereotypes that are forced on races and instead had genuine, original stories that still fit into the theme of the show.
Up next was the mysterious white, Brett (an almost comedically white name, I would argue). Brett may or may not be performing on the upcoming dates due to the show’s premise; however, if he is, count yourself lucky. Brett cracked the audience up with his experience of being confused for a Norse god and meeting someone as large as a god, Shaquille O’Neal.
2 Wongs and a White is a buffet of comedy that fits into one hour. Harry, Jenny, and the token white man Brett are filled with cracking Australian humour, with some Korean, Chinese and classic white guy humour (what the world needs more of) thrown in the mix too.
