Break The Fall is the latest in a string of releases by award-winning singer/songwriter Jamie Alimorad. An uplifting, drum-sample led groove supports Jamie’s radio-ready vocals in this vulnerable, heartfelt track, about reassuring the one you love that you’ll be there for them when the weight of the world becomes too much. Here is what he had to say when was interviewed.
We are almost halfway through 2022, how has this year been for you so far?
Hard to believe the year is moving so quickly! 2022 has been great! The new music has been doing well on the charts, digital platforms, and even brought home a few awards. Lots exciting things, and plenty of music ahead!
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Ray of sunshine.
How did you get into your current career?
I’ve always loved music, it’s part of my DNA. The Beatles are the group that really made me want to do it as a career. They’re personalities and musicianship lit a fire in me, and shortly thereafter I formed my first garage band. Going to college was very important to me, and I made the decision to study music technology. That was the defining moment of no looking back.
How would you describe your work?
Melodic pop, where old school cool meets new school sound.
What do you want people to take away from it?
I hope that anyone listening to my music walks away happier than when they were before the song started. There are enough hardships in the world. My wish is for my music to provide relief, make you feel good, and maybe even make you think.
What inspires you and who are your influences?
Songwriting is one of those magical, almost unexplainable things. One minute you have nothing, and then suddenly the germ of an idea forms in your mind. Maybe it was from a conversation, an experience, the rhythm of the city traffic, it could be anything.
As far as my musical inspirations go, I run gauntlet from ABBA to Zappa. I mentioned the Beatles earlier, and I would say my biggest influences in contemporary music are Gino Vannelli, Richard Marx, Rick Springfield, David Foster, Toto, the Tubes, and Kenny Loggins. Across all genres, and all eras there is something that inspires me. Classical composers such as Mozart, Debussy, and Dvořák, the great collection of Motown talent, the Great American Songbook, and so much more!
Who are you listening to at the moment?
I certainly have blasted my new single “Break The Fall” a few times on the stereo. I heard the new 5 Seconds of Summer song “COMPLETE MESS” the other day, and thought that was a solid modern pop track. I just attended the GRAMMYS, and hearing Silk Sonic live, I’ve gone back and listened to their album. Love hearing that sound in the mainstream.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
Don’t be so rigid. Times are changing fast and the music industry can be stubborn in its adaptation. Ride the wave.
What’s next for you? What are you most excited for?
I’m most immediately excited for my show in Nashville. My first concert in over two years! It’s a great lineup I’m headlining, put on by the USA Songwriting Competition. There are more singles coming throughout the year, as well as more concerts, and video!
Thanks for taking the time to answer these questions!
My pleasure! Thank you for having me.
