The perfect venue for this show, a dark room with red emergency lights and the sounds of machines. Submersing the audience into Eric’s world. An immediate way to capture the attention of the audience.
Eric himself is an extremely talented storyteller. He explains his stories in such great detail but keeps it easy for the audience to understand. A hard thing to do when talking about submarines, not something the vast majority of people have a great knowledge of!
He uses pictures and diagrams to ensure the audience understand the logistics as well as how insane and crazy his life has been. Some photos provoke horrifying shock through the audience. My own jaw dropping at many points.
Eric’s life stories are so shocking and surreal. The rigorous training and dangerous situations submariners are constantly placed in are unbelievable and its hard to believe anyone would want to become one in the first place. He tells of some real horror stories as well as some sad moments. It’s remarkable he’s here in front of us to tell the tale!
Alongside his crazy life experiences we learn of the comradery and friendship that came with his career. How he met his lifetime best friend and soul mate. In one of the most unconventional ways possible! As well as the care and love that the submariners have for each other as they become family. An unbreakable bond. More than anything this show is a beautiful story of friendship and its importance in keeping you sane. Well, most of the time.
This show has the perfect mixture of comedy and storytelling. A captivating and heart warming show.
