But who has been tasked to play the iconic Miranda Priestly, originally played by Meryl Streep in the 2006 blockbuster?

Vanessa Williams, that is.

Williams is an American singer, actress, model, producer, and dancer, having held roles in Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Eraser and Dance with me.

Meanwhile, The Devil Wears Prada follows the life of Andy Sachs, when she lands a job in fashion journalism, she quickly discovers that working for New York Runway Editor-in-Chief Miranda Priestly is not as what it seems, discovering her purpose and finding out what truly matters.

Commenting on the production, John said: “Re-imagining The Devil Wears Prada for the musical theatre is super exciting. I’m a huge fan of both the book and the feature film and a huge aficionado of the fashion world. I can’t wait to sink my musical teeth into this hunk of popular culture.”

The new musical is also based on the popular 2003 novel by Lauren Weisberger.
