Edfringe Comedy Review: Viv Ford: New Kids on the Blockchain
dolly parton

This comedic storytelling show is perfect for all the crypto bros who are jealous that they didn’t invest sooner.

Ford moved to San Francisco for a job in the booming tech industry during her 20’s. In a struggle to find a place to live, she contacted an old classmate advertising a spare room. Little did she know that her room in a three story town house named “the crypto castle”, shared with 14 boys would be her foray into the world of Bitcoin.

If like me, you haven’t the slightest amount of knowledge when it comes to the crypto world, it’s okay as Ford will give a brief run down of key terms, such as shitcoin and hodl.

Ford hilariously explains the boys that she moves in with are all in on the ground floor of Bitcoin offers in the US. Although, 14 boys who share five bedrooms and live off of meal replacement drinks don’t have too much to offer at the start.

By some chance, Bitcoin doubles its value in the space of two weeks and the boys are ecstatic. Ford says she becomes almost addicted to wanting to be like these guys who are so focused on goals that aren’t even in the physical world, one boy even confides in her that he would have an AI girlfriend.

Ford is able to make the crypto world seem accessible to an audience that knows nothing about it. She uses her comedic skills to relay just how douchey the boys she lived with could be, as one could imagine.

This short and sweet storytelling of Ford’s true events will have you laughing and secretly googling what the difference is between a hot and cold wallet.
