The Francis Hotel in Bath offers a delightful mix of historical character and modern comfort. Housed in a beautiful Georgian building from 1728, the hotel spans seven original townhouses in Queen Square, designed by the renowned architect John Wood the Elder. Originally called Parker’s Hotel, it was renamed after a visit from Emperor Francis I of Austria, adding a touch of royal history to its walls.

As you enter the lobby, you’ll notice how seamlessly the hotel balances its historical elements with contemporary style. Artwork throughout the building gives you a sense of its rich past. Our room was comfortable and well-appointed, with a standout spacious bathroom featuring stylish black and white tiles. The restaurant is equally impressive, with an eye-catching flower-adorned ceiling that creates a unique atmosphere. Breakfast is a highlight, offering a wide array of options beautifully presented to start your day right.

What really elevates the stay is the staff’s warm and attentive service. They’re always ready to help, making you feel genuinely welcome throughout your visit. The hotel’s location is ideal too, overlooking the picturesque Queen Square park while being conveniently close to Bath’s main attractions. It’s perfect for immersing yourself in the city’s Georgian ambiance.

The Francis Hotel successfully preserves its historical significance while providing all the modern amenities you’d expect. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply looking for a comfortable base to explore Bath, this hotel offers a friendly, relaxing environment with a touch of historical flair. It’s a great choice for anyone wanting to experience Bath’s unique blend of past and present.
