Brigstock Goes to Balham

Marcus Brigstock will take his solo show Vitruvian Mango to the Balham Comedy Festival – the latest in a star-studded line up.

Also bringing solo shows to the South London festival, which runs from July 6 – 12 are Shaparak Khorsandi, Finlay Christie, Stephen K Amos and Ria Lina.

Work in progress shows will be staged by Rhys James and Ali Woods, while a host of comedy names will be joining John Moloney for the Banana Cabaret.

The festival is the thirteenth to be held at The Bedford in Balham, which has been hosting the Banana Cabaret for 42 years.

Among those joining the mixed bills will be Lily Philips, Esther Manito, Dave Fulton and Rachel Parris. London-based Livewired Comedy Improv will also be performing on Sunday July 6 – the first time improv comedy has been included as part of the line up.

Festival co-producer and Banana Cabaret king, Dave Vickers, said: “Imagine trying to cherry pick 24 individuals from the bewildering array of comic talent that’s crossed our stage over the last 42 years!”

The mini festival, which includes 24 acts, and 12 shows across eight nights is a favourite with comics. Shaparak Khorsandi said: “Banana Cabaret is the heartbeat of the London comedy scene.”
