A good malt whisky is the gift that keeps on giving.
Imagine a olefactory kaleidoscope playing on your tongue, in your nose and, sometimes, seemingly, even in your ears. This is more than a taste. This is a developing experience for your head. Can you tell I am a bit of a fan ?
To be honest, I am a devout Islay girl, so the Speyside labelling wasn’t exciting for me.
However.
Glenallachie’s signature malt – Meikle Toir – is peated and punchy and altogether pretty impressive. Its layers of flavour dance on your tongue, birl round your head and give you more than a moment of joy with every swallow. I miss my smoke but this is impressive stuff
Their newbie – with its Sauternes Wine Cask Finish – is quite grown up at 12 years old but still sweet as you could want. It is delightful. Less forceful than the Meikle Toir but soooooooooooooo lovely. If you know someone you love enough who has never tried a single malt … this would be a perfect cherry popper.
Impressive …
