First it was a book, that was spun off from another book. Then it became a musical with songs that became iconic and a ‘must try’ for at least one television singing audition hopeful per season to show off their vocal acrobatics. And now ‘Wicked’ is one of the most hotly anticipated cinematic releases (out 22 November 2024 in the UK), complete with pop star cast member (naturally – it’s a musical so it must be the law in at least a couple of states) and tipped for greatness, much like a certain wizard. Which is due in no small part due to the magic and love of the show’s fans. This is a Christmas treat for fans past, present and future.

In the form of a large hardback book framework, 25 envelopes of differing sizes, colours and decoration offer a Christmas countdown of officially branded treats, ranging from patches to keychains, buttons, magnets, stickers, coasters, washi tape and more. These aren’t tat. It actually feels like a much-loved collection shared. There’s something innocently warm and endearing about fandom – and about Christmas. Put them both together and it’s a hug for the heart, celebrating show tunes and a moral to be true to yourself with a classy iron-on patch.
