London’s newest music experience, Live Odyssey, is set to launch with an unprecedented exclusive collaboration with John Lennon’s family. Partnering with Lennon’s sister, Julia Baird, the exhibition offers a deeply personal and immersive journey into the early years of the legendary Beatle, featuring revelations and rare artefacts never before seen by the public.
Opening on 22nd May, this ground-breaking exhibition combines art, soundscapes, projections, rare artefacts, and live performances to transport audiences into John Lennon’s world. More than a tribute, this experience is a raw and intimate portrayal of Lennon’s formative years, narrated by the sister who knew him best.
Julia Baird’s brutally honest account explores their unorthodox childhood, the complex relationships that shaped Lennon, and the struggles and triumphs that led to his meteoric rise with The Beatles. Key moments include the battle between their mother and Aunt Mimi over John’s custody, his musical awakening inspired by his mother, and the tragic loss that deeply impacted him.
“I’m pleased to tell the inside story of my brother John, at Live Odyssey” – Julia Baird
The Live Odyssey exhibition extends beyond Lennon, offering a two-and-a-half-hour journey through six decades of British music. This dynamic attraction in the heart of Camden celebrates the nation’s most influential artists and movements through interactive technology, exclusive memorabilia, and live performances. Visitors will enter via The Clash steps and move through six distinct rooms, each dedicated to a different musical era, complete with adjoining bars to keep the energy flowing.
A highlight is the Hologram Room, where British music icons are immortalised through cutting-edge technology. Launching with an exclusive holographic performance by The Libertines, the space merges nostalgia with innovation, featuring unseen behind-the-scenes footage from the band’s recording sessions.
The exhibition boasts an ever-evolving collection of heritage items from music legends, including David Bowie’s microphone from Glastonbury, leads from Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ recording, and original album art from The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour, Kate Bush’s The Whole Story, and The Rolling Stones’ Slow Rollers.
In partnership with Pop Nouveau, one of the world’s largest private collectors of music art, Live Odyssey also showcases 3,500 original album and single cover artworks, alongside live art installations and exclusive prints for sale. One of the key features will be the Lennon Wired Exhibition by artist James Wilkinson, incorporating microphone leads once owned by Lennon and Yoko Ono at Tittenhurst Park.
Additionally, The Tapes We Left Behind exhibit offers an extraordinary glimpse into music history, featuring art crafted from Master Tapes of legendary artists such as Queen, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Radiohead, and Duran Duran.
Music lovers will be captivated by the live performances that pay homage to Britain’s greatest artists, with a modern twist that honours their legacy. The experience culminates in a stunning 3D immersive finale, featuring a journey through space with star walls and visionary projections set to an exclusive track by Roger Taylor (Queen).
With early bird ticket prices available until the end of the month, Live Odyssey is set to be London’s must-visit destination for music fans of all ages. Don’t miss your chance to witness this revolutionary tribute to John Lennon and British music history – a show, exhibition, and immersive live event like no other.
