Shawn Matthew drops an explosive new single with “Work to the Beat”, a high-octane blend of bass house, dubstep, and trap released via 20k Leagues Records. The independent artist and rising force in the bass scene delivers a track that doesn’t just hit—it detonates, shaking up dance floors and rattling sound systems across the globe.

From the first thunderous kick, Work to the Beat demands attention. Gritty New Orleans-style hip-hop vocals collide with filthy dubstep stabs and a trap breakdown that hits like a sucker punch in a mosh pit. It’s a chaotic, addictive sound that fans of Jauz, Ship Wrek, and Odd Mob will recognise—yet uniquely twisted through the lens of Shawn Matthew’s creative vision.

This release marks a dramatic shift in direction for Matthew, previously known for his melodic house roots. With Work to the Beat, he leaves behind dreamy synths in favour of gritty, aggressive basslines, solidifying his evolution into one of EDM’s most compelling underdogs.

Shawn’s career has been steadily gaining traction. His viral spoof “The DJ Diet” racked up over 533K views and more than 33K interactions, showcasing both his production skills and larger-than-life personality. His remix of Major Lazer’s “Light It Up” earned him top-10 honours in composition, mix, and master, judged by the label and a panel of experts.

Most recently, he wrapped up an exclusive six-month mentorship under producer Phil Harris, collaborating with some of the most exciting emerging talent in the scene. With a headline slot at Ghouliecon 2025 looming—a cult favourite among underground electronic fans—he’s poised for a breakout year.

But Shawn Matthew’s story isn’t just one of beats and basslines. Originally from the Midwest, he once worked as a high-ranking statistician and award-winning process engineer across finance, oil and gas, and even helped scale a viral beauty brand. Everything changed after a near-death experience pushed him to finally pursue his artistic calling. He left the corporate world behind to dive headfirst into music, crafting raw, high-energy tracks that reflect his uncompromising drive.

Now, as a husband, father, and untameable creative force, Shawn is building the legacy he nearly didn’t get the chance to chase—one wild, speaker-blowing track at a time. With Work to the Beat, he makes it clear: this is only the beginning.
