Edfringe Comedy Review: Jordan Gray: Is That a C*ck in Your Pocket, or Are You Just Here to Kill Me?

Edfringe Comedy Review: Jordan Gray: Is That a C*ck in Your Pocket, or Are You Just Here to Kill Me?

Jordan Gray’s brand-new show follows the effects of stripping naked on national television.

Dressed in cowgirl attire, Gray shows off her musical talent with multiple instruments and a stunning voice. She tells her story through a mixture of well written original songs and stand up. The combination allows for an enjoyable experience even for non-musical fans.

The show follows Gray’s life as a trans woman in the spotlight. She discusses the changes in her life since becoming successful and the public commentary that comes with it, like the many death threats she receives.

Gray has an eccentric approach to her comedy, with wild moves and facial expressions. The performance is animated and there is never a dull moment.

Gray’s vocals are strong and expressive. Her lyrics are bittersweet and emotional as she uses her dark humour to talk about her life.

The comedian often interacts with her audience and leaves them roaring with laughter. There is a good relationship between Gray and the crowd as she builds a strong bond, which allows them to interact.

After her previous debut at the festival, this new show is certainly not a let-down. It is no surprise how talented Jordan Gray is. The thought-provoking performance will stay with you long after you leave.

Gray’s comedy will have you laughing one second and emotional another. She aims to connect with other people in her community, which makes for a touching performance and leaves many audience members in tears.

Jordan Gray: Is That a C*ck in Your Pocket, or Are You Just Here to Kill Me?, 21:05, Piccolo Tent at Assembly George Square Gardens, until August 24 (not 6, 12, 19)
