Liverpool-based singer-songwriter Neil Potter has released his latest single, Música El Idioma Del Amor, a vibrant preview of his debut solo album Out Of The Fjords And Into New Found Lands, which arrives on October 22, 2025.
With its Mediterranean feel, Spanish guitar textures, and catchy hooks, the track blends Spanish lyrics with Potter’s trademark mix of rock and progressive influences. It shows the versatility he brings to songwriting and gives a first look at the adventurous direction of the album.
“This single represents years of studying and exploring different musical languages. I wanted to create something with rhythm, emotion, and a sense of journey—music that feels fresh but still connects deeply,” Potter explains.
Over the past 15 years, Potter has worked as both a teacher and student of music, immersing himself in rock, flamenco, jazz, progressive metal, and classical composition. That wide-ranging experience shaped the distinct sound of his debut project.
Much of the album was recorded in Potter’s home studio, with drums tracked at the Motor Museum Studio in Liverpool. Mixing was handled by Tony Draper, former head engineer at Parr Street Studios, and mastering was completed by Sean Magee at Abbey Road Studios in London.
Due for release in October, the 13-track record brings together rock, progressive, acoustic, orchestral, and flamenco-inspired elements. Lyrically, it covers themes of love, family, mental health, and resilience, aiming to balance technical depth with emotional honesty.
Drawing comparisons to artists such as Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, Dream Theater, Jon Gomm, and Paco De Lucía, Potter’s music looks set to cross genres while keeping a strong personal identity.
