As a child, I hated being the one singled out to help the magician in their magic show. I vividly remember using my own tricks (visibly sobbing) to get out of it.
However, this is one magic show I don’t think I’d cry about. The Magicians, Sam and Justin instantly can turn a room of small apprehensive eyes into a crowd of smiles and cheering.
The venue itself only amplifies the magical excitement of this show. This year taking place in the gorgeous Palais du Variete in George Square Gardens with its beautiful, mirrored walls, tall ceilings and surrounded intimate wooden booths allowing the audience to see the magic itself from any direction.
This is a show where the kids are at the heart of the performance. Audience interaction is a huge part of the magic, with volunteers being asked up to the stage to dazzle their friends or family, or (amusingly) fail to!
During the show’s finale, the audience was asked to look underneath their seats in case something special had perhaps been hidden there, turns out the hidden ‘special thing’ was a young shy audience member, inviting her up to the stage. The two magicians did an excellent job at making the experience memorable and comfortable for the girl who was evidently nervous.
Despite a couple comments from children in the audience who hadn’t been asked up on stage, this show is perfect for any child who genuinely loves magic whether they are part of making it or not.
