Tell us about your show. Why should we go and see it?
It’s called “Kaiju About”. The show is about myself, a Japanese person living in London. I was about to make a change and have a fresh start in my life. Then something happened…
I’m going to tell stories and my thoughts through the journey of my experiences as well as the challenges.
Why should we go and see it?
Because I’m proud of this show and I hope people will enjoy it as much I do too.
Are you flying solo or are you part of a team?
I’m with Mick Perrin Worldwide production team and PBJ Management. It’s been such an honour to work with these wonderful, talented, kind and caring people. I am so looking forward to going up to Edinburgh Fringe 2022 with them and share moments together.
What are your hopes and dreams for the Fringe?
My hopes and dreams are to perform live shows everyday. We couldn’t do this during lockdown, and I’m so grateful that we can get to do this this year in 2022.
What makes you laugh?
Well, I quite laugh often when something happens or said unexpectedly. (But not in a scary situation…)
What is it that made you a performer?
By doing stand-up, I can hear the laughter from audience just after I deliver the joke that I wrote. The feeling is beyond words.
How will your audience think/feel differently after an hour in your company?
You’ll find out a lot more about myself, my experiences, (a Japanese person living in the UK), challenges that I’ve been through. I want the audience to feel warmer after watching my show.
Whose show – apart from your own – are you looking forward to seeing at the Edinburgh Fringe?
There are so many shows that I’d like to watch! But if I shall pick one to write here, I’m looking forward to seeing Amy Matthew’s show “Moveover, The Moon” (love the show title). I was on the same mixed bill with her at weekend shows in Edinburgh in June and she was brilliant. Her show is on at 14:35 Monkey Barrel, Carnivor 1.
What’s the most useful piece of advice you’ve been given?
I’ve been given lots of useful advice in my life, but now I think sleep is one of the most important things to do.
Do you have a favourite Fringe memory?
I did a spot at one of the mixed bill show and it looked like a tough room, I think there was a family (parents and two teenagers), a couple and a pub customer at the back… But then they were laughing out loud throughout and I felt that it was one of the best moments I had at the Fringe that year.
Who is your showbiz/Fringe idol and why.
Ohh there are so many but I’ll list three names here. Jen Brister, Sarah Kendall, and Lucy Pearman (…and once again, there are so many more!!!) I’ve watched their shows and their shows gave me more than the shows. They are incredible and I’m a fan of them since then.
