Q: You have done on many different things over the years like writing novels and participating on Britain’s got talent. Which experience have you enjoyed the most?

A: Definitely (and I say this after a year where it wasn’t possible) performing in front of a live audience.  That beats television or studio filming a high profile show.  Nothing beats performing stand up live.  Though, if anyone who books the TV and studio stuff is reading…er… don’t be offended.  Book me for all of that too!

Q: Who inspires you to do stand up comedy? Either personal or industry influences?

A: The comedians I admire include Joan Rivers, Chris Rock and Sugar Sammy.  But most of all, my family pushes me to do my stand up comedy — still working on completing the arc from shame of the family, to pride of the family.  I’m currently in about the number 4 spot.

Q: The title of your tour “Apocalypse Not Now” hits home with many as we move through the pandemic. Is the show focused heavily on the pandemic or many topics?

A: The pandemic comes up a lot, but really the show is about coping with horrible things be they pandemics, family drama, loneliness. Laughter in the face of pain is probably the thesis statement.  If you saw the list of things I’m going to discuss, you’d expect something tragic and deep.  Instead we will laugh about all of them.

Q: Is there anything else on the horizon in your career that you would like to share?

A: In addition to my tour, the third series of my radio show ‘Citizen of Nowhere’ will  be airing on BBC radio 4 in the final quarter of this year.
