Scottish singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Zack Gibson has released his debut single, ‘Figure It Out’,
The 17-year-old from Broughty Ferry, Dundee, has been building a name across Scotland’s live music scene with a blend of acoustic pop, heartfelt songwriting and melodic hooks. A guitarist and pianist, Gibson draws on personal experiences and youthful vulnerability to create songs that are direct and emotionally grounded.
His musical journey began with piano lessons at the age of five before he taught himself guitar and began writing his own material. A significant early break came at an under-18s songwriting camp, where his performance earned a standing ovation and caught the attention of The View frontman Kyle Falconer, who described Gibson as an “unreal talent”.
The pair subsequently wrote and recorded together at Falconer’s home studio in Spain, working with producer Andy Gannon, whose credits include Robbie Williams and The Courteeners. Gibson later joined Falconer on Scottish tour dates, gaining further live experience, and has also supported Cammy Barnes.
Gibson has continued to establish himself on the Scottish live circuit, performing at venues and events including Lomond Unplugged. Earlier in 2026, he also performed at MiCannes Music Festival, marking an early international appearance for the young artist.
‘Figure It Out’ explores the idea of pushing through insecurities and choosing your own path despite the challenges along the way.
Speaking about the track, Gibson says: “The song is about not letting things get you down and choosing your own path, even when there are struggles along the way. It started with just a few chords that Kyle and I were playing around with, and from there it grew into one of the biggest and most upbeat songs on the album.”
Gibson has also recently joined the roster of Riverman Bangkok, the management team behind Placebo and other internationally recognised artists, and is now working with promotions team Future Sonic Collective.
Following the release of ‘Figure It Out’, Gibson will continue to develop his live profile, including a support appearance with The Bootleg Beatles at Livehouse Dundee on 11 September.
‘Figure It Out’ is available across all major download and streaming platforms now.
