Dublin, capital of the Republic of Ireland and situated on East Coast, has lots of offer for a quick getaway. Full of historic buildings dating back to the 13th century, as well as top restaurants and landscaped city parks, it is a great place to begin exploring Irish heritage and culture.
Home to the Ireland Music Week that began last Tuesday (4 October), we got the chance to take a quick visit to the capital. Find our top hotel and restaurant recommendations below:
Hotel Recommendation
The Wren Urban Nest
The Wren Urban Nest is a boutique eco hotel which is perfectly located in the cool part of Dublin only five minutes walk to the best shops and restaurants. The first tier rooms are tiny with no space to put away clothes, so best suited to people staying for very short periods of time. Beds are super comfy and blackout blinds a blessing! I world recommend you book a cozy room which is one up! Much more space!
Having eaten both dinner and breakfast in their restaurant, the food is beautifully prepared using local and organic food. Notable for breakfast would be their homemade granola. The only criticism is it would be great for them to make fresh eggs and squeeze juice, this would be the cherry on top of the cake. The staff are very helpful too. I would recommend staying there.
Restaurant recommendations
Juanitos
I can’t speak more highly for this unique restaurant, which is Mexican mixed with Asian and a modern slant. Run by an incredible Dutch man and with staff who are equally as amazing – the service, food and drink is second to none. I loved their beef brisket bowl – phenomenal taste. This special restaurant, that won’t break the bank, is part of a bigger complex that also includes a café.
Highly recommended
Glas
For a much pricier option, try fine-dining vegetarian restaurant, Glas. A gorgeous setting both inside and on the plates. Delicious cocktails and original food. Large portions, so beware! Leave room for a Lemon and Dill sponge cake with olive oil ice cream and artichoke caramel. Amazing.
