Big name acts including Frank Skinner, Jo Caulfield, Iain Stirling and Jack Whitehall are among those who have performed at a daily fund-raiser gig in memory of comic Gareth Richards.

A Just Giving Crowdfunder for Richards, a popular Fringe and radio comic who died in April, has so far raised £47,100 which will go to help his two boys, aged 11 and 13.

The fundraising gig was the idea of Fringe comics Mark Simmonds and Danny Ward, who often shared a flat with Richards during August.

Susie McCabe, Paul Sinha, Troy Hawke, Rob Auton, Dara O’Brien, Larry Dean and JoJo Sutherland are also among the acts who have joined the mixed bill show at the Free Fringe.

Simmonds said: “The atmosphere at A Show For Gareth Richards has been amazing. We’ve had a full room, we’ve actually been turning people away at the door every day of the Fringe and there is so much love and support in the room.
