Asian American comic Atskuko Okatsuka has announced the UK leg of her global tour, with dates in Glasgow, Manchester and London.

This follows the huge success of her HBO special ‘The Intruder’ directed by Tig Notaro, which will be on Sky UK from December.

The ‘Full Grown’ tour tackles issues of family dynamics, self discovery and mental health with her trademark warmth and relatable style.

She says: “I’m so excited to be back in the UK! Last time, you all packed out my two sold-out Hackney Empire shows, and I’ve been eager to come back ever since. It’s always so cool to travel and see how my comedy connects with fans all over the world. This time, I’m not just sticking to London—I’m bringing my ‘Full Grown Tour’ to Glasgow and Manchester too, for my Scottish and Northern English babes! And of course, I’ll be back in London, but this time at the even bigger and iconic Eventim Apollo. See you all so soon!”

‘The Intruder’ was named the “Best Debut Special of 2022” by the New York Times and one of the “Best Specials of 2022” by Vulture and Variety. She also won the 2023 Gracie Award for “Best Special” and was nominated for “Best Comedian” by the Wowie Awards. She was named one of Variety’s 10 Comics to Watch for 2022, and made her late-night stand-up debut on ‘The Late Show With James Corden’.

In addition to her standup career, she had two films debut at this year’s Tribeca film festival in New York: ‘All That We Love’ directed by Yen Tan and ‘Group Therapy’ directed by Neil Berkely and produced by Kevin Hart’s Hartbeat productions. She also finished a comedy feature film called ‘Outcome’ APPLE starring alongside Jonah Hill and Keanu Reeves.

Atsuko was featured on ‘This American Life’ with Ira Glass and told the story of how she got to the USA. She was raised by her grandmother, and they created the #DropChallenge together which has amassed more than 10 million views. Her unique upbringing brings an artfully offbeat resilient persona which is perfectly embodied in her blunt fringe and bowl haircut.

Atsuko was born in Taiwan to Japanese and Taiwanese parents, and spent her childhood in Japan. At age eight, she moved to the States with her mother and grandmother and lived undocumented for seven years. She discovered standup comedy through a Margaret Cho DVD, given to her by a friend during a boring sermon at church.

Atsuko Okatsuka Full Grown will be at the 02 Academy Glasgow on February 20, Manchester Academy on February 21 and London Eventim Apollo on February 22.
