Arriving at the show to offer the audience a buffet of tarts and sausage rolls, Molly herself is a treat, as she guides you through her love life, work life and her near-death experience.

Molly brings up her weird habit of falling for or having a particular type of man fall for her. What type of man? Well, the opposite of a silver fox and more of an alcoholic without pillowcases. It’s that or Meatloaf. Molly mentions her options in vivid detail as she reads her “roster” from handmade cards nicknamed “the lonely farts club”.

Like most people, Molly has a love life and a work life. It just so happens that her work life has a lot to do with beans at a hotel. Yes, when Molly isn’t making you laugh, she apparently is working out your perfect bean-to-bean sauce ratio to make your buffet dreams come true, which explains the beginning somewhat.

Molly suffered a scare last year as she was hospitalised and put in a medically induced coma for sepsis and had to undergo a tracheotomy. For a situation so scary, I don’t think I’ve laughed so hard at sponges, drugs, or a hospital New Year’s party. Whilst she makes light of her situation with a lot of laughs, she makes it clear that an important part of her show is raising awareness for this deadly illness, and as she puts it, “You can talk about a scary situation whilst also having a laugh about it.”

Molly McGuinness 14.55, Monkey Barrell Comedy – Cabaret Voltaire, until August 24
