Just see this.

Honestly, that’s all I want to say.

I’m grateful I went into this show blind – and that’s my recommendation to anyone reading this.

What I say next might only dilute your experience, but I will try my best not to spoil it.

On the face of it, Tape Face is exactly what it sounds like: a man with tape on his face. It’s a one-man routine, all performed without a word from the face himself. He’s essentially a mime but calling him that feels like a slight as he’s much more than that. It’s a clever performance where the audience, props and slick stage production combine in a perfect blend of physical comedy and meticulously thought-out set pieces – all expertly crafted by the voiceless man on stage.

If you’ve ever wanted to witness a (family-friendly) striptease, ballet, wedding as well as a shoe making love all in one night – then this is where you need to be. He works through his segments with chosen members of the crowd who all play their part in the fantastic hour of entertainment.

I’ll never hear Queen’s A Kind of Magic and Duelling Banjos from Deliverance the same way again. This, along with the rest of the sound production is brilliantly incorporated into the shortest hour of on-stage fun.

Age, sex, religion, language – none of it matters. This act is truly universal.

Tape Face: 20, Pleasance Courtyard (Grand), 19:30, until Aug 10
