Sexual feminist cabaret is how this show is described and it sure is.  Coming out to an emphatic rendition of The Doors’ Light My Fire, the all-female act set the tone for the rest of their show.  It is loud, energetic and unashamedly feminine.  You’re invited to join their rebellion.  There will be nudity.

“Cheer if you see anything dangerous” the audience is told – and there’s plenty to cheer.

There’s rope work, dancing, singing, whip cracking, gymnastics all fantastically performed – and all very risqué.  The production is slick, moving between acts seamlessly, one second you are watching someone glide up and down a ladder, next a fire artist moves fire around her body in various states of undress.

But it isn’t all just theatrics.  ‘From the river to the sea’ is sung which gets big claps from the audience.  Along with this, the clear feminist agenda is woven throughout.

Some of it is a bit on the nose (Red Riding Hood killing the Big Bad Wolf) but it is entertaining none the less.

The audience loves the show, groups of audience members stand up to whoop and holler, clapping and cheering.  We are fully on board with the invitation to join the protest.

Dangerous Goods, Assembly George Square Gardens (Palais du Variete), 20:05, Until 24 Aug (not 18th)
