This show isn’t the traditional story of Aphrodite, but it definitely has the love, beauty, and physical desire aspects nailed down.
Looking stunning in a gorgeous, sparkling gown, Elouise Eftos isn’t far off from what I envisioned Aphrodite to look like. From the moment she steps onto the stage, there’s an undeniable sense of glamour and allure.
But beneath all that beauty is a performance that feels playful, bold, provocative and completely captivating. It also still manages to feel educational, I felt like I was still learning something at the same time as being entertained.
Eftos brings Aphrodite to life in a way that feels both modern and deliciously theatrical. There’s plenty of humour woven through the performance, alongside moments of genuine sensuality, making for a show that is as entertaining as it is visually striking.
Rather than simply telling the story of a goddess, Aphrodite explores the ideas that have surrounded her for all her days – desire, attraction, beauty, and the power that comes with being desired. Eftos embraces all of it with confidence and charisma.
