No show has more audience involvement than Showstopper, and no one likes to be the centre of attention more than a child. This show allows your child to create their very own dream musical using ideas that the showstoppers (the musicians) then turn into marvellous adventures and storylines, completely from scratch.
Unlike the adult version of the show, the kid’s ideas are met with warmth and prospect. There is no such thing as a bad suggestion, instead, each contribution is embraced and developed, giving children the wonderful feeling that they genuinely have a hand in creating the show unfolding before them. The connection between the cast and the musicians is of the highest order, improvising new songs for the story – constantly reading the room, knowing when to grasp attention and maintain engagement.
That engagement is the secret weapon. This isn’t a show where children simply sit and watch. They become part of the creative process. Every performance is therefore completely unique, with the possibility of gloriously unexpected chaos resting in the hands of its audience.
There is something wonderfully liberating about watching performers take a child’s suggestion and respond with an enthusiastic, “Yes, and…”. It celebrates imagination, spontaneity, and the sheer joy of making something up as you go along.
For adults, it is an impressive display of theatrical skill. For children, it is the chance to see their imagination brought to life on stage.
