Music: Rattling Around Scotland: Mackenzies Tour Marks Anniversary

Goodbye Mr Mackenzie Live by Stuart Westwood

Goodbye Mr Mackenzie have announced a Scottish tour and the re-release of the album Five – released in 1994.

The album was the band’s first on its own independent label and marked a move to a rougher, more grungy style.

It was the last Goodbye Mr MacKenzie album to feature Shirley Manson, who went on to form Garbage.

Goodbye Mr MacKenzie have always been an electrifying live band, with lead singer and songwriter Martin Metcalfe known for his outstanding vocals and impressive stage presence. The current line up also includes Big John Duncan, formerly of The Exploited.

The Mackenzies first album went straight in to the charts at No 16. The Rattler was the single that attracted most attention and is still regularly played on the radio north of the border, as well as still getting airings by the likes of Steve Lamacq on BBC Radio 6.

The tour starts in Newcastle on October 3 and ends in Dingwall on October 12.

Thursday 3rd: Newcastle: Cluny
Friday 4th: Stirling: Tollbooth
Saturday 5th Dunfermline: PJ Molloys

Thursday 10th Aberdeen: Lemon Tree
Friday 11th Edinburgh: Liquid Rooms
Saturday 12th Dingwall: Dingwall Town Hall
