Music: Lola Wild: Prepare to be Entranced

Jump the Gun is a slow burning ballad wrapped in the shimmering aesthetic of eighties production with a modern twist.

Written by Lola Wild and produced by Jim Wallis (Still Corners, Modern Nature), Jump the Gun was brought to life at the legendary Strongroom Studios in Shoreditch, London. The song is a bittersweet, nostalgic trip, that’s both dreamlike and haunting, wrapped in a melancholy haze that echoes heartbreak and regret. With layers of warm reverb, the track feels like it’s playing from a distant past, as if Lola is singing her confession into an empty, neon-lit room.

Lyrically, the song unfolds like an intimate conversation, yet it carries a dual interpretation. At first listen, it seems to chronicle the unraveling of a tumultuous relationship, marked by impulsivity and missteps. But digging deeper, Wild reveals an internal dialogue – a candid exploration of their own insecurities and tendencies to overthink or act prematurely.
She sings: “It’s always been a problem for you, saying things that are on your mind, no wonder why you jump the gun and slip and fall every time.”

“Jump the Gun” masterfully blends introspection with infectious energy, making it a track that’s as thought-provoking as it is danceable. It’s a testament to Lola Wild’s ability to turn personal reflection into universally resonant art, wrapped in an irresistibly retro package showcasing her ability to intertwine timeless influences with her unique voice and vision, offering a mesmerising preview of what’s to come on her forthcoming album Lost Signal.

Emerging from the vibrant music scene of Hackney, London, Lola Wild is making waves as a captivating artist whose sound seamlessly blends the nostalgic charm of retro eras with a fresh, contemporary edge. A former showgirl dancer, since her 2024 debut, Lola has quickly established herself as a visually captivating and immersive performer, selling out two headline shows at London’s prestigious venues, SJQ and Crazy Coq’s.
