Dan Arwady, a versatile and introspective songwriter, originally from Chicago but now based in California, releases his fourth EP, Carry With You, focussing on live, in-studio collaborations to create a warm, organic atmosphere that stands out against the increasingly digital backdrop of modern music.
The songwriter says: “When we were recording Carry With You, I wanted to capture the magic of live human interaction. Playing these songs together with other musicians in the same room allowed for a unique, in-the-moment authenticity. You can hear it in the interplay between Harry Griffin and me on the acoustic guitars, and between Cassie Annunziata and me as we harmonise.”
The EP’s title track, ‘Carry With You,’ holds a special meaning for Arwady: “Those people in our lives – that stay, that come and go, that influence us as we influence them – we carry them with us. I wanted to write a song for my three kids, that they will always have that love, wherever they go.”
The EP includes three additional tracks that highlight Arwady’s reflective lyricism and storytelling: ‘Somebody Else,’ ‘Where There’s Nowhere,’ and ‘It’s Not Perfect’, each brought to life by Arwady’s expressive vocals, Harry Griffin’s skilful guitar and mandolin work, and the soulful harmonies of Cassie Annunziata. They are anchored by the dynamic and melodic bass playing of Mike Chiavaro, the cello of Chloé Mendola and the bass playing of Manny Fassbinder. Fans can watch Arwady’s powerful performances of ‘Somebody Else’ and ‘Carry With You,’ filmed in-studio immediately after recording sessions wrapped.
Dan Arwady is a multifaceted musician – a songwriter, vocalist, guitarist, drummer, and producer – who brings a rare level of dedication and authenticity to his work. Now based in Pacifica, CA, Arwady creates under his own name and is also the co-founder of two bands, Vara Wade and Sure Fire Groove. Inspired by the connections that unite us, Arwady’s music resonates deeply with listeners, capturing both the personal and the universal in every lyric.
