Danielle Holian Shares New Poetry Collection Growing Pains

Acclaimed Irish poet Danielle Holian has announced the release of her fourth poetry collection, Growing Pains, a deeply personal body of work exploring survival, healing, and reclaiming identity after emotional trauma.

Following her earlier collections Beautifully Chaotic (2019), The Dilemma (2020), and Surviving You (2021), Holian’s latest release offers an honest and reflective account of navigating the aftermath of a toxic relationship. Written across five years, the collection traces the emotional progression from idealisation and attachment to disillusionment, recovery, and self-reclamation.

“This book is a map of a love that broke me, and the strength it took to put myself back together,” Holian said.

Growing Pains is divided into five thematic sections: Honeymoon, Handcuffs, Hangover, Hindsight, and Homecoming. Each chapter reflects a different stage of the relationship and its emotional consequences, capturing moments of hope, control, betrayal, reflection, and healing.

Known for her emotionally direct and accessible writing style, Holian often explores themes of heartbreak, resilience, trauma, and psychological recovery in her work. With Growing Pains, she continues that exploration through candid poetry that documents both vulnerability and survival.
