An East Lothian music festival which brings international artists to rural Scotland has announced a programme featuring a headline choral concert staged in an aircraft museum.

Lammermuir Festival, which lost, and was then regained its key funding from Creative Scotland, will stage a performance of the choral work Path of Miracles, by Jody Talbot,, in the Concorde Hangar at the National Museum of Flight.

Events also include a Scottish Opera staging of Britten’s Albert Herring in the market town of Haddington and the Scottish debut of Concerto Copenhagen, one of the best baroque orchestras in the world.

In another highlight world renowned singer Veronique Gens will perform French songs from la Belle Epoque in a concert at Prestonkirk Parish Church in East Linton. The programme also includes performances by the Maxwell Quartet, the Hebrides Ensemble and the Royal Northern Sinfonia and Amsterdam’s Van Bearle Trio.

Muir Russell, Chair of Lammermuir Festival said: “This year’s Festival programme is our strongest yet. Thanks to the generosity of our supporters and friends, and with Creative Scotland’s contribution, we can go forward to provide another unique, rich cultural experience of the kind that Lammermuir has become famous for.”

The event features 37 concerts across 15 venues in East Lothian and runs from September 5 – 16. Performances include morning coffee concerts, with tickets including coffee and cake.

James Waters Chief Executive and Co-Artistic Director said; “These last 12 months have been some of the hardest we’ve experienced in over 30 years of working and running arts festivals. But they have also been some of the most magical as our audiences, our friends across the industry, our patrons and supporters have all come together in voice and, where they could, with financial support to ensure that this year’s festival could go ahead.”
