The TV series, based on Leigh Bardugo’s books Shadow and Bone and Six of Crows premiered in April of 2021. The series combines the plots of Bardugo’s novels as they overlap in her whimsical world called the Grishaverse. Netflix renewed the show for season 2 as just 28 days after its release season 1 was watched by more than 55 million households. The series made the top 10 list in 93 countries and reached number 1 in 79 countries on Netflix.

Eric Heisserer created and executive produced the show. The cast consisted of Jessie Mei Li as Alina Starkov, Archie Renaux as Malyen Oretsev, Freddy Carter as Kaz Brekker. Amita Suman as Inej, Kit Young as Jesper Fahey, Ben Barnes as General Kirigan, Danielle Galligan as Nina Zenik and Calahan Skogman as Matthias Helvar. They are all set to return to their roles in Season 2. Casting announcements for new characters are far out but fans are excited to see more of the series beloved characters come to life.
