The reboot of Sexy Beasts was just released on Netflix and many are already enjoying the weird but entertaining concept. But this series is hardly original- the original series aired seven years ago on BBC. At the time it was just a little too odd for viewers and the show was cancelled after just one eight episode season.
Each episode features one single going on dates with three individuals where all of them are disguised in unique and elaborate makeup. Viewers see one single go on dates with the three other and eventually choose a partner based off of their personality rather than looks.
Unfortunately there is no way to catch up on the original series before diving into the reboot but it is probable that Netflix will pick it up once the reboot has gained some popularity.
While the idea of dating for personality on dating shows isn’t surprising by any means but it is quite unsettling to watch it all go down with the an odd mix of pandas, pixies, devils and more. The need to see the faces below the mask though keeps viewers holding on until the end.
