Etoile Marley kicks off the new year with an empowering release, ‘Power 2 The Mother’.
The track is an ode to motherhood, to raising children, maintaining relationships and building a career simultaneously. Marley questions how to maintain a sense of self in the face of enormous pressures and expectations of what being a mother should mean.
“I had to battle a lot of societal dialogue around being ‘too old’ to be starting a career in music after having children. But the more I speak with young women in music, the more I feel the importance of older women being heard and visible in the music industry.”

The track begins with upbeat Spanish guitar and goes on to feature French lyrics in the second verse, expressing Marley’s dual cultural identity. But the overarching message is for women to embrace themselves in all their different manifestations.
